Literacy= Reading +Writing

Unfortunately we see that writing has lost its place in our educational environments. Some of us remember the time spent in the classroom working on our perfect penmanship to show off to our teachers. We got excited about comparing our writing to the example in the book. Later in life we took those words to another level as we learned to use that fabulous writing to create pieces of writing that communicated our thoughts and feelings. Those pieces are often fueled by the mentor text that we read. Let's remember that one fuels the other. If we want our kids to write the must READ more.
